The Hernando County Health Department has a Vasectomy Program
with Title X financial assistance for men who qualify based on income and
family size. Men who do not qualify for assistance are
also welcome to have a vasectomy through the Health Department for a fee of
$400. The only
stipulation is that, even for men who pay the full $400 fee, 2 visits
are required and there must be a 30-day interval between the
date on which a consent is signed and the date of the vasectomy.
Thursday afternoon vasectomies
were once performed at the
Brooksville Health Center by Dr. Doug
Stein but many men chose to have their
Hernando-sponsored vasectomies at Dr. Stein's office in Tampa for greater
flexibility in scheduling. So now all men are
referred to Dr. Stein's office in North Tampa

The Brooksville Clinic is a modern
facility nestled behind a grove of magnificent oaks on the east
side of Main Street, 3 blocks south of Broad Street. Plenty of
shaded parking and neat toys in the waiting room for kids. |

recording by the nurse who coordinates the Vasectomy Program. She returns
calls between 4 PM and 5 PM daily, so please be prepared to leave a number
at which you can be reached late in the day.
