Vasectomy in Jacksonville, Florida:
Serving Northeast Florida (St. Augustine) and South Georgia (Brunswick, Waycross)

At Planned Parenthood of Northeast Florida, Friday morning vasectomies are performed every 8 to 10 weeks by Dr. Doug Stein, who uses no-needle local anesthesia and a no-scalpel technique. For exact dates, see Dr. Stein's Outfield Schedule. The fee is $490. A deposit of $100 is required to be scheduled (see below).

After years of performing vasectomies at the Central Clinic on Beach Boulevard, we changed the vasectomy site location. Starting with the vasectomy clinic on April 10, 2009, the new service site has been the Beaches Clinic in Jacksonville Beach.
The clinic in Jacksonville Beach is at 2370-1 South Third Street (zip code 32250).
Telephone (904) 249-2378.

Planned Parenthood is located just off A1A (3rd Street South), 0.9 miles north of the termination of the Turner Butler Boulevard.

From the west, take I-10 then I-95 to Exit 344. From the north, take I-95 to Exit 362, then 9A to Turner Butler. From the south, take I-95 to Exit 337, then 9A to Turner Butler. Go east on Turner Butler Boulevard (202) all the way to A1A (3rd Street South). Go north on 3rd Street to 23rd Avenue S. (Atlantic and Beach Boulevards are alternative routes, but much slower because of traffic lights.) From St. Augustine, it's a straight shot north on A1A.

The intersection of 3rd Street and 23rd Avenue is between a Compass Bank and the Jacksonville Beach water tower (easy landmarks). Turn left (go west) on 23rd Avenue.

Planned Parenthood (blue roof) is 0.1 mile down 23rd Avenue on the left behind the Polly B Dance Academy.

(NOTE: Despite its address, Planned Parenthood is not physically on 3rd Street. We don’t know why it has a 3rd Street Address.)

The counseling process can be done online by (1) reviewing Dr. Stein's vasectomy page, (2) viewing the online counseling video, and (3) reading the vasectomy info sheet (this is a PDF file viewable with Acrobat Reader®, available here as a free download if you don't already have a copy of Acrobat Reader® on your computer), which you will be asked to sign prior to your procedure. So only one visit is required, but you will have Dr. Stein's office, home, and cell phone numbers so that you can always reach him if you have questions after your procedure. You will also be given a mailer, so that you can send a semen sample to Dr. Stein's Tampa office 12 weeks after your vasectomy to be sure that your semen is sperm-free. We also strongly encourage you to pre-register on our On-line Vasectomy Registration page. On arrival for your vasectomy, you will still have to complete a few forms for Planned Parenthood, but your registration with Dr. Stein will be complete.

To schedule, please call Dr. Stein's office at 813-903-1902 or toll-free 866-827-8463. Again, a deposit of $100 is required to be scheduled. The deposit is fully refundable until 7 calendar days prior to the appointed vasectomy date, non-refundable thereafter for either cancellation or postponement. The deposit can be paid by phone or during online pre-registration by providing a VISA/MasterCard number, or by mailing a check or money order payable to Douglas G. Stein, MD to his Tampa office (Douglas G. Stein, MD, PA; 3000 E Fletcher Avenue; Suite 330; Tampa, FL 33613). The balance of the fee ($390) is due on the day of the vasectomy, payable to Planned Parenthood by cash or Visa/MasterCard. Personal checks are not accepted.

If your vasectomy is covered by an insurance company with which Dr. Stein is a contracted provider, your deposit will be returned to you when we are paid by your insurance company. Itemized and properly coded receipts are provided, and these may be submitted to insurance companies with which Dr. Stein is not a contracted provider in an attempt to get reimbursement or credit toward your deductible. To learn whether your insurance company will cover a vasectomy at this site, please call your carrier and ask the 5 questions listed here.

Dr.Stein also performs vasectomies in Lake City and Gainesville, alternative North Florida locations if the Jacksonville location or times are not convenient.

Financial Aid
Men who have a low income and no health insurance may seek financial assistance for vasectomy services at the Family Planning Office of the Duval County Health Department, located on the 3rd Floor of Shands Hospital on 8th Street. Federal Title X (Ten) funds may be available! Dr. Stein is not a provider for the Duval CHD, but if you qualify for assistance, you will be referred to a vasectomy physician with whom the county has a contract.
