FREE vasectomy in Tampa on Thursday April 21 ... during the SwitchPoint Conference in North Carolina.

by Doug Stein, MD
Jonathan Stack and I are Co-Founders of World Vasectomy Day (WVD), an annual Celebration of Men willing to partake in family planning for the benefit of themselves, their families, their societies, and our planet. For 3 years in a row (2013 Adelaide, Australia; 2014 Kissimmee, Florida; 2015 Nusa Dua, Indonesia), responsible men have volunteered to undergo vasectomy on WVD in a public forum to demonstrate the ease of the procedure and to showcase their willingness to encourage other men to do the same. Please see the videos at http://www.worldvasectomyday.org/ and http://www.worldvasectomyday.org/#!media/c1oi.

On April 21, Jonathan will discuss WVD at Switchpoint, an exchange of ideas that drive the future of mankind. Please see the video at http://www.switchpointideas.com/. As you can see on the "Schedule", there will be three Microlabs Sessions. During the first, at 1:20 PM, Jonathan will host an Interactive Vasectomy Lab during which 2 vasectomy patients and I will join him via Skype. Those patients will be interviewed live during their vasectomies.

If you would like to be one of those patients, we will offer your vasectomy at no charge to you except for what insurance might pay if you have insurance. But please understand that your vasectomy will not be private. Like the Australian men who had their vasectomies on WVD2013 and the Floridian men who had their vasectomies on WVD2014 (see the news story HERE), you will be interviewed on camera during your vasectomy with live transmission to Jonathan's Microlab at Switchpoint in North Carolina (http://www.switchpointideas.com/map-info). The session may even be recorded and the recording used in future WVD promotional events. Your modesty will be preserved with nothing exposed except possibly for your scrotum after a procedure drape has been applied. Because this is a deviation from privacy guidelines, you will have to sign a Release Form.

We also ask that you pay our usual procedure deposit of $100 when you agree to participate. This will be refunded after your vasectomy, but not if you change your mind or are unable to arrive on time. Having someone not show up or change his mind at the last minute would completely spoil this opportunity to showcase WVD in a forum of progressive ideas.

To summarize,
  1. In the interest of full informed consent, please review the Vasectomy Page and watch the Counseling Video.
  2. Understand that your vasectomy will not be private if you choose to have it on April 21. Like the Australian men who had their vasectomies on WVD2013 and the Floridian men who had their vasectomies on WVD2014, you will be interviewed on camera possibly during your vasectomy with live transmission to the media and WVD staff in North Carolina. It may be recorded and you may be featured in a documentary film about WVD2016. Your modesty will be preserved with nothing exposed except possibly for your scrotum.
  3. If you would still like to proceed, please print the Release Form, one copy for each family member that will accompany you to my office on April 21 if you would like them to be included in your interviews. Fill out and sign each form. Then you have 3 options:
    a. You may mail the signed Forms to Douglas Stein, MD; 3000 East Fletcher Avenue; Suite 330; Tampa, FL 33613; or
    b. You may scan the completed form(s) and e-mail them to vnelson@vasweb.com;
    or
    c. You  may fax the completed Form(s) to 813-971-9529.
  4. Register Online if you have not already done so. When prompted, indicate April 21 as your Vasectomy Date and Tampa as your Vasectomy Location. We ask for the deposit of $100, but this will be returned in the form of a personal check on April 21 after your vasectomy. You will be asked to pay nothing out of pocket, but if you have insurance please complete the insurance info during the online registration. Insurance company payments (if any), it will be donated to World Vasectomy Day.
Thank you not only for choosing me to perform your vasectomy but also for considering this opportunity to serve as a role model for men worldwide.
