Vasectomy in Ft. Myers / Naples, Florida:

March 25, 2023 will be our last day performing vasectomies in Ft. Myers until ... we acquire an associate willing to travel within Florida as we have done since 2005. The gentle, highly effective method of vasectomy has become very popular, and many men are requesting the procedure. We have so many patients in our main office in Tampa/Lutz that we have to focus our energies there for now. If you still want to have a vasectomy with Dr. Curington or Dr. Stein, you will have to come to our main office in Lutz. (Only one trip is required because consulations are done online and by phone, and post-vasectomy semen checks can be done by mail.) Otherwise, you may be able to find a vasectomy physician closer to your location.

At SIMC in Ft. Myers, no-needle no-scalpel vasectomy services have been provided every 1-2 months on special "Vasectomy Days"  by Drs. Doug Stein and John Curington, who use no-needle local anesthesia and a no-scalpel technique. For exact dates, see their Outfield Schedule. More information about vasectomy is in the Vasectomy Page of vasweb.com. The fee is $590, often covered by health insurance and Title 10 (see below). A deposit of $100 is required to be scheduled (see below). The counseling process can be done online by (1) reviewing our vasectomy page, (2) viewing the online counseling video, and (3) reading the vasectomy info sheet , which you will be asked to sign before your procedure. So only one visit is required, but you will have our office, home, and cell phone numbers so that you can always reach us if you have questions after your procedure. You will also be given a mailer, so that you can send a semen sample to our Tampa office 12 weeks after your vasectomy to be sure that your semen is sperm-free. To schedule (at our main office in Lutz after March 25), you must pre-register on our On-line Vasectomy Registration page.

SIMC is located at 3840 Colonial Boulevard, Ft. Myers, FL 33966.

To schedule, please call Dr. Stein and Curington's office at 813-536-1430 or 866-827-8463. Again, a deposit of $100 is required to be scheduled.  The deposit is fully refundable until 7 calendar days prior to the appointed vasectomy date, non-refundable thereafter for either cancellation or postponement. The deposit is paid during online pre-registration by providing a VISA/MasterCard number. Patients without credit cards can pick up single-use pre-paid cards at most discount stores. The balance of the fee ($490 or your insurance company's allowable rate less $100) is due on the day of the vasectomy, payable by cash or check to Douglas G. Stein, MD, PA. While we cannot accept credit or debit cards at Dr. Pynckel's Office, you may pay the balance with Visa/MasterCard by calling our Tampa office (813-536-1430) at least 1 day prior to the procedure during office hours, 9 AM - 4 PM.

If your vasectomy is paid for by an insurance company with which Drs. Stein and Curington are contracted providers, your deposit will be returned to you (less your required co-payment) when we are paid by your insurance company. Itemized and properly coded receipts are provided, and these may be submitted to insurance companies with which Drs. Stein and Curington are not contracted providers in an attempt to get reimbursement or credit toward your deductible. To learn whether your insurance company will cover a vasectomy at this site, please call your carrier and ask the 5 questions listed here. For questions about Medicaid, please click here.

Financial Aid
If you have no health insurance (Medicaid or private) and your income is low, you may qualify for financial aid under a federal program called Title 10 (click for details) administered by many of Florida's county health departments. The health departments of Charlotte, Lee, and Collier Counties have active Title 10 vasectomy assistance programs.
